GB_Xmas_PosterWhat? Ghostbusters presented by Future Cinema

Where? The Troxy

When? November 2013

The low down… A group of friends set off to take part in Future Cinema’s Ghostbusters experience. Amongst the brave souls was film reviewer ‘That Film Guy’ who has shared with us his account of the evening:

Future Cinema, an off-shoot brand of the Secret Cinema group but with the emphasis placed firmly on tongue-in-cheek fun. They have proven to be increasingly popular in certain demographics, offering nostalgia-laced all-encompassing cinematic experiences.

The latest screenings of the iconic horror comedy Ghostbusters at the Troxy cinema does not disappoint.

From the moment you step through the gilded doors of the cinema you are treated to a camped-up version of 1980s New York. There’s shell suits, neon scrunchies and the fellow cinema goers are encouraged to dress up and get involved.

Then there’s the interior, which is fabulously redecorated to resemble Sedgewick Hotel from the film and plays host to the evenings festivities. There’s a live band/DJ, actors playing out key scenes from the film and a host of audience participation stalls that help to recreate the film’s 1980s New York setting. Then just as you think you’ve seen everything, a giant inflatable Stay Puft marshmallow man slowly rises by the side of the screen and all of your wildest dreams come true.

It’s rare to find an evening’s entertainment that is suitable for the whole family, but Future Cinema have managed to turn the screening of a rather scary comedy into a fun night out for all ages.
